Monika is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC), and a Problem and Compulsive Gambling Counselor (PCGC) with extensive experience working with individuals and families. She specializes in treating a broad range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, ADHD, interpersonal difficulties, adjustment issues, and addiction-related concerns.
Monika’s background includes significant experience working with individuals who struggle with Substance Use Disorders and Gambling Disorders. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Master of Arts from Lewis University.
“I believe it takes immense courage to seek support and help. As a clinician, I strive to foster and utilize that courage to collaborate with, and empower my clients, to not only find solutions to current challenges but also help prepare them to address future difficulties as they arise.”
Monika’s therapeutic approach is eclectic and rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing. “I strive to create a comfortable and safe environment where clients feel they can be vulnerable, open, and honest without judgment. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that focuses first and foremost on assisting the client to reach their therapeutic goals. Every treatment plan and approach is individualized and tailored to meet the needs of my clients.”
While Monika has experience working with individuals facing gambling-related issues, at this time, she does not assist in the process of getting off self-exclusion lists for gambling.
Clients often describe Monika as warm, empathetic, and witty, with a good sense of humor. “I practice a lot of active listening and reflection, but am also directive and goal-oriented with my clients.”
In her personal time, Monika enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, listening to music, reading, staying active, and crafting.
